Title VI grant funds are awarded to local educational agencies as a formula grant (not competitive). These funds may be used for:

•Teacher recruitment and retention, including the use of signing bonuses and other financial incentives;
•Teacher professional development, including programs that train teachers to utilize technology to improve teaching and to train special needs teachers;
•Educational technology, including software and hardware, as described in part D of Title II;
•Parental involvement activities;
•Activities authorized under the Safe and Drug - Free Schools program under part A of Title IV;
•Activities authorized under part A of Title I;
•Activities authorized under Title III.
Title VI funds for Hampton County School District 2 are being used this year to promote teacher retention, to assist teachers in obtaining Gifted and Talented endorsement, to assist in providing a parent coordinator at the high school, to provide parenting materials at all schools, to provide library equipment at Estill Middle School, and to provide books for a summer reading program for Estill High School in summer 2007.

Re: Notification of Asbestos Inspections

In compliance with the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergancy Response Act (AHERA), in the fall of 1998 we performed inspections of each of our schools builds for Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM).
