HAMPTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING (CALLED) DISTRICT BOARD ROOM ESTILL, SOUTH CAROLINA JUNE 9, 2009 6:00 P.M. THOSE PRESENT: Bruce N. Davis, Myrtle Sumter, Daisy B. Orr, Elizabeth Haynes, Benjamin Burison OTHERS: Walter L. Tobin, JJ Orr, Deonia Simmons GENERAL SESSION: Vice Chairperson Daisy Orr called the meeting to order and the invocation was offered by Mr. Davis. In accordance with S. C. Code of Laws, Section 30-4-80-(e), as amended the following were notified of the meeting, Hampton County Guardian, and WBHC Radio. The agenda was posted in the teacher’s lounge at each school as well as at the district office. Motion was made by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mrs. Sumter and carried by the board to amend the agenda as sent out to include Personnel Recommendations-Deputy Superintendent, Human Resources Director, Teacher and Personnel Update Motion was made by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mrs. Sumter and carried by the board to approve the Submission of Application for Grant to Meet the Special Education Needs of Educationally Deprived Children Under Title I of Public Law 107-110 and to grant permission for the Superintendent to sign documents on behalf of the Board. Motion was made by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mrs. Sumter and carried by the board to go into Executive Session to discuss the following: Personnel Recommendations, Deputy Superintendent, Human Resources Director, Teacher and Personnel Update EXECUTIVE SESSION: Motion was made by Mrs. Sumter, seconded by Mr. Davis and carried by the board that the board go back into General Session. GENERAL SESSION: Report Out of Executive Session: Motion was made by Mrs. Sumter and seconded by Mrs. Orr to hire Conchita Bostick as Human Resources Director. Motion was carried by the board with four voting yes and Bruce Davis abstaining. Motion was made by Mrs. Sumter and seconded by Mrs. Orr to hire Loretta White as Benefits Coordinator. Motion was carried unanimously by the board. Motion was made by Mrs. Sumter and seconded by Mr. Davis to hire Morris Arrington as Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Motion was carried unanimously by the board. Motion was made by Mr. Davis and seconded by Mrs. Sumter to hire Wayne Hooper-Estill Elementary Teacher and Carolyn Seabury-ESOL Teacher. Motion was carried unanimously by the board. Motion was made by Mrs. Haynes and seconded by Mrs. Orr to accept the recommendation of the Superintendent to terminate the employment of David Corley, Sr., Estill High School Principal. Motion was carried by the board with Daisy Orr, Elizabeth Haynes and Benjamin Burison voting YES and Bruce Davis and Myrtle Sumter voting NO. Motion was made by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mrs. Haynes and carried unanimously by the board that the meeting be adjourned. |
