Every child has a right to a free, appropriate public education (FAPE). Some students have disabilities that make it difficult for them to engage in learning in the general public school setting without special education services. The Special Services Department in Hampton County School District 2 assures that all students with disabilities between the ages of 3 to 21 will be provided with appropriate programs of instruction and related services customized to meet the individual needs of our students What is Special Education? Federal regulations define Special Education as specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. Specially Designed Instruction means appropriate adaptation of content, methodology, or delivery of instruction. In turn, related services are provided to assist students to benefit from their specially designed instructional program. Mission To ensure that all children with disabilities in Hampton County School District 2 have available a free and appropriate public education (FAPE), protect the rights of these children and their parents, and provide leadership to schools operating programs that provide appropriate services to our students with disabilities.
