BOARD BRIEFS The month of January is School Board Recognition Month. Members of the Board of Trustees, Hampton County School District 2, were honored for their service to the school district with fruit baskets, pens and treats by the principals and student leaders from each of the three schools. The Board and the community were provided with information regarding the following matters: External Review Team visit on January 21-22 from the South Carolina Department of Education. District Celebration and Recognition Program held on December 18 to honor the achievements of individual schools, administrators, faculty members and staff. The results of the on-site review of the Title I Program audit concluded that the district was in compliance with all regulations. Information regarding the district’s finances and a report of the recent reduction of State Funds. The administration will make a recommendation to the Board at the February meeting on how the funding shortfall will be managed. ACTION ITEMS: The Board approved two Out-of State Field trips for Estill High School The District’s Organizational Chart was approved. The Board of Trustees approved Friday, February 13, 2009 as the make-up day when schools were closed in honor of the memory of Dr. Kenneth Gardner. Students and staff will report to their regular sites on Friday, February 13, 2009. Monday, February 16, 2009, President’s Day remains a holiday. |
